Seven Gables Series

Seven Gables Series
A six bedroom house in a gated community in Southern California is reimagined for alternative futures.
These include a return to farming, a multi-family commune and an urban encroachment mixed-use site.
The title of the series references The House of Seven Gables by Nathanial Hawthorn, which uses the
changing circumstances of a prominent family in decline, and their mansion, as a central narrative thread.

Straightening the Schuykill River / Dispersal Study

Straightening the Schuylkill River
Running through the heart of the city of Philadelphia, the Schuylkill River is here reengineered into a
straight, efficient line. Asserting a will-to-power over natural systems, the work aligns with a proposal by
Leonardo De Vinci to straighten the Arno River in Florence for economic and political purposes.

Dispersal Study
A series of large prints reimagines the city of Philadelphia as a fragmented, atomized collection of
disassociated parts.

Western Fictions

Redrawing The Colorado River Without Parker Dam: From the Series, Western Fictions

There are fifteen major dam sites set along the Colorado River passing through multiple states in the western US. In this example, focusing on Parker Dam in the lower Colorado basin, topographical maps have been silkscreened in low contrast, with topo lines, obliterated by up-river reservoirs, drawn in by hand, retracing the unobstructed path of the river. This is one of three dam sites in the series, comprised of over 18 individual map sections impacted by up-river water storage.

Bending The Los Angeles River: From the Series, Western Fictions

The LA River canal is returned to something close to its natural pathway by cutting and rotating sequenced sections of the city.

Erasures: From the Series Western Fictions

Unwanted features are removed from western landscapes, inverting the before/after relationship.
